Te Waka Huruhurumanu ki Ōtautahi is a whānau based, bilingual early learning centre based at Ara Institute of Canterbury in Christchurch CBD. We cater for tamariki from 6 months to five years of age and are licensed for 50 tamariki daily, (with maximum of 12 under two years of age).

Our philosophy and values are underpinned by Te Ao Māori me ona Tīkanga. We are committed to our bi cultural practices, teaching and learning. Our centre has a strong emphasis on Te Reo Māori me ona tīkanga, alongside supporting other cultures within our community. Kaiako are encouraged to work alongside our tamariki, exploring and discovering the world around them.

We have two fulltime fixed term teaching positions available.

One position for a Qualified ECE Teacher (minimum qualification required, Bachelor in Teaching and Learning, (ECE)),

The other position for a Non-Qualified ECE Teacher. New graduates and 3rd year Students are welcomed to apply.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong knowledge of Te Reo Māori me ona Tīkanga
  • Is a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
  • Is Passionate about providing high quality care and education within a bilingual education setting
  • Has the knowledge and understanding of learning within ECE and assessment

Start date for both positions will be week beginning Monday 12 March 2018.
